Bikini BodyWhile there are plenty of conflicting opinions out there about how long your breast implants will last, the truth is that you shouldn’t have to replace them unless there is a problem – or if you want to make a change. Let’s just say for the sake of argument that you LOVE your Phoenix breast implants, they look awesome, and you hope they will last forever. Most doctors will tell you the same thing: if there’s nothing wrong with them, there is no need to replace them. There are plenty of women out there who have had their implants since the 1980’s and have never experienced any issues. While it is recommended that an MRI or ultrasound be conducted periodically to rule out a rupture, if you don’t notice any changes in the look and feel of your breasts, then you have nothing to worry about.

Get regular checkups

A good rule of thumb: if you notice asymmetry or a change in shape, you should see your surgeon right away. Saline implants will show changes much more quickly than silicone, so if you do have silicone implants, the need for periodic mammograms, ultrasounds or MRI’s rises in importance.

The most common issue with silicone implants is hardening. With saline implants, you may notice deflation or wrinkling if there is an issue, but many women go on to love their implants for well over the imaginary ‘ten-year’ baseline.

Ultimately, implants are man-made. Like most things that fall into this category, they are not meant to last forever. Though many cosmetic surgeons will tell you that your implants have an average life span of ten years, you could need them replaced after four, but they might well last up to twenty-five. As long as they look and feel great, there is certainly no need to worry about your Scottsdale breast augmentation.
