Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that enhances the appearance of a woman’s breasts. Many women choose to make their breasts larger and fuller, and Dr. Rochlin provides thorough consultations to ensure that she fully understands the look each patient wants to achieve. These consultations ensure that the correct type of implant is selected. Two common forms of breast implants include:
The reasons that women elect to have breast augmentation surgery are as varied as the women themselves. Some women are unhappy with the size of their breasts or want to restore their appearance after breastfeeding or mastectomies. Other women may have asymmetrical breasts and want to make them more even in size and shape. Sometimes after dramatic weight loss, women will want to restore the fullness of their bust. Whatever the reason, Dr. Rochlin is a gifted surgeon who will perform the surgery to give her patient’s the breasts they’ve always wanted.
Breast augmentation surgery is usually an outpatient procedure. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and takes about an hour depending on what type of implant or injection is being used and whether Dr. Rochlin performs any reconstruction of the surrounding tissues. Depending on the desired result, an incision is made under the breasts, under the arms, or around the nipples. When the implants have been placed into a pocket above or below the chest muscles, Dr. Rochlin will close the incisions with surgical tape or sutures. Most women experience some minor swelling after the procedure and wear a special surgical bra for around a week to support healing. Once the swelling recedes, patients will enjoy the full effects of their breast augmentation.
