Body Contouring – Scar Revision
The amount of scarring secondary to an injury or surgery depends on a multitude of factors such as heredity, the age of the person the location and size of the wound and individual skin characteristics. The appearance of scars can be improved depending on variable such as the direction and size of the scar, the age of the person, skin type and color, and hereditary factors that may precondition the extent of the healing process.
Scar revision is best performed after the scar is well healed. There are many different modalities that can be used to improve the appearance of a scar such as surgical revision also laser treatments to help fade any pigmentation and surface irregularities. Dermal fillers can also be used to help fill any surface irregularities.
Dr Rochlin’s experience in working with severely burned and disfigured patients as a surgical fellow in Burn and Reconstructive Surgery at New York’s Westchester Medical Center gives her a unique approach in helping patients improve the appearance of their scars.
